Welcome to Bach and Boogie!

Bach & Boogie offers an interactive, sensory-rich music class series for children aged 0-4 years old. Parents can expect a blend of classical music education, engaging group activities, and hands-on fun with instruments, rhythm, and melody. Each week features a themed class highlighting iconic composers, styles, and playful musical storytelling. Classes are held at our two wonderful partner retirement homes in Melrose - Wednesdays at The Fitch Home, and Saturdays at The Residence at Melrose Station.

Our classes are designed to spark joy, inspire curiosity, and nurture a love for music in young hearts. Children can explore sounds, movements, and creative expression while parents enjoy bonding with their little ones — and seniors delight in sharing the joy of music with the next generation.

About Alex

Hi, I'm Alex, founder of Bach and Boogie! Music has been a cornerstone of my life, passed down to me from both sides of my family. My great grandmother bought us our first piano, and she played 4 hands piano (duets) with her friends until she was over 100 years old - I played for her many times. As a child, I learned piano from a wonderful teacher, Mary Shey, who used the Suzuki method of learning music with an emphasis on ear training and enjoyment. It was her encouragement that gave me the drive to continue with advanced training at the New England Conservatory (NEC) with several amazing teachers. As a freshman, I had the honor of winning my college's piano competition — watch the video here. During high school and college, I discovered my love for teaching by tutoring and giving piano lessons to kids.

Now, as the father of a curious 20-month-old daughter, I’ve combined my passion for classical piano and love for teaching to create Bach and Boogie. This class is my way of sharing the magic of classical music with her and the next generation.
